Helpful Questions on Friendship With The Spirit

This week's Good News is that help is unlimited when God's Spirit is our friend! Are you someone who is looking to grow your friendship with the Spirit?

In any friendship, these are helpful questions to consider:

Status: Where do we stand with one another?

Commitment: Do we desire good for one another?

Cost: Are we willing to keep building trust?

Identity: Is our identity rooted in friendship?

Direction: Is our direction moving together?

Likewise, our friendship with the Spirit can be marked by:

Status: We are no longer condemned and are now invited to live in freedom!

Commitment: We have moved from living in sin to living with the Spirit!

Cost: Jesus conquered death and brought life!

Identity: We move from being people stuck in sin to free in the Spirit!

Direction: Our path redirects from death to life!

The right friendship changes everything. Now that we have looked closely at what friendship with the Spirit looks like, here are 3 questions to reflect on friendship with the Spirit:

1. How has listening been going lately? Have you been listening to Him more than anyone else? He’s waiting to have a conversation with you!

2. Have you been cooperating with Him? In what ways are you bringing life to the people around you - coworkers, friends, neighbors, family members?

3. How will you celebrate a story of partnership with the Spirit? Look back and look presently at what God is up to in your life and the lives around you. Share that story with someone!

Bonus question: How can you create space for the Spirit to speak to you? Look around your life. Invite the Spirit to befriend you, and invite someone in your life to reflect with you!
