3 Different Ways to Worship

David, the psalmist, is often referred to as a man after God's own heart. The psalms, which are songs of praise, teach and invite all to live a life of worship.

Pursuing God's heart is continually learning his heart. Psalm 145 describes God as King, immeasurably great, majestic, powerful, merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, filled with unfailing love, promise-keeper, kind. Knowing this about God grows a curiosity and yearning to learn more. What are you learning about who God is?

Psalm 145:4-7 says, "Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness."

Followers and friends of Jesus worship because God is worthy of it. Out of Psalm 145, here are 3 different ways to worship:

  1. Meditate - Worship is personal and holistic when you study, contemplate, and fill your mind with who you are continually discovering God to be.

  2. Tell - Worship is relational, generational, and invitational when you share stories of God's goodness in tangible ways.

  3. Sing - Worship is communal when you join in song with followers and friends of Jesus worldwide as His Church.

What do meditating, telling, and singing have in common?

Worship is a conversation! When you use your words to tell, your mind to meditate, your energy to proclaim, your diverse experiences to share the story, and your whole being to sing, you join in an ongoing conversation of all the good that God is up to. It's a conversation full of celebration, curiosity, and community.

How will you continue the conversation with God personally and invite others into it communally?
