3 Steps to a Meaningful Invitation
You have the opportunity to make an impact…right where you are! How? By showing up, inviting, and following up. Bringing life to families, neighbors, and this city involve all three!
Followers of Jesus show up ready to be present, to listen, to celebrate what God’s doing in others and to share what God is doing in you, to pray for wisdom and opportunity to point people toward Jesus.
Take risks to invite people to the best next thing! Your first instinct may be to invite your friends to a church service, and while that’s a great invite, that’s not your only option. Extend an invitation to go on a walk, to jump in on a Discover Bible Study, to join your prayer team, to share a meal, etc. You never know how your relationships may grow!
The most often forgotten step is the follow-up. Whatever you invite people into can be helpful, but it’s your intentional relationship with them that will help others take a step. After all, they trusted you enough to say yes! Who better to listen well, celebrate what God is doing, and help others toward their next step with them than you?
Try this!
Grab your relational map, or if you haven’t yet, here’s a quick video on how to draw your map! Take some time to pray for opportunity and boldness, inviting people around you who are close to you but far from God to take a next step in Jesus’ direction.
Look around you. Who can you challenge to invite others to practice these 3 steps? Multiply the impact!
Follow up with someone you recently invited. These 3 simple, yet powerful questions may help:
What was important to you about what you experienced?
What do you not want to forget about it?
Can I share with you what’s important to me about it?
People are always inviting others to something - a birthday party, events, grand openings, etc. Followers of Jesus, you have the greatest thing to invite others to: life with Jesus. Who will you invite?
