Sheena’s Story | Invited to Love

Sheena wears many hats, from volunteering in lighting and production to working as the barista everyone shared their stories with, to now being a lead advocate for her community in Las Vegas! Her story begins with an invitation to love, which fuels every passion and action of hers as she now invites everyone she encounters to both know a greater Love and to live out love in tangible ways.

"Before a deep, personal relationship with Jesus, I felt like I was very closed-off to people, very harsh with very little patience. I didn't make time for people. Since knowing Jesus, I find myself the complete opposite - seeking people, seeking to know people's stories, seeking to know how I can support or guide people to forms of support."

Sheena grew up in the Church but only knew God through her parents' religiosity. "I went through some church hurt. I had to take some time, [but] as He does, He kept pursuing me for a deeper relationship and brought me back." Sheena is becoming someone who is pursuing people because she knows how much life changes when you realize Jesus is pursuing you.

The areas of her life where she has lived through both hurt and healing drive her passion for people to know God's true love for them. As an advocate, friend, and nurse, Sheena works in, with, and for her community here in Las Vegas. She has learned that people, more than anything, want to be heard, validated, and guided. She has learned this from her firsthand experience of God hearing her prayers, validating who she was, is, and is now becoming, and guiding her every step of the way. "I'm here to show God's love." She has been able to put this into practice with great company, support, and help along the way.

Through everything Sheena does, she always encourages people to listen and keep in step with the Holy Spirit. "Sometimes He's really loud, and sometimes [the Holy Spirit is like] a gentle nudge, but I [need to] participate in the active invitation [that] Jesus' greatest gospel and greatest commandment is [to] love."

How is Sheena’s story inviting you to know God’s love, or challenges you to invite someone to show God’s love?
