Ted Kapel | Celebrate Recover 20th Anniversary
“Keep Coming Back” is what a room full of people shouts in celebration on a Friday night at Canyon Ridge. They’re welcoming newcomers to receive a chip commemorating a time of recovery from life’s hurts, hang-ups, and habits and encouraging them to keep coming back, no matter what.
You can find this celebration happening every Friday, but August 26th was especially significant. This marked 20 years of Celebrate Recovery at Canyon Ridge — a safe place for people who pursue a life of freedom and experience transformation in Jesus’ name! A place where all are welcome to come alive in Jesus with great support, partnership, and friendship along the way.
In celebrating 20 years of legacy, Pastor Kevin Williams shared, “We are a group of storytellers. Every Friday night, we tell stories - what a gift. And what good is a gift if you keep it to yourself? The hope God has given you is meant to be shared!” People finding this kind of hope are encouraged and empowered to share their stories of life change.
Kevin also had the opportunity to honor Ted Kapel, the first ministry leader for Celebrate Recovery at Canyon Ridge. Ted remembers, having served for 12 years, “Many lives changed and transformed within those years. At the time we began, I was only sober for a year and a half. God had me at the right place at the right time of my life. I’ve discovered that God is with me every step of the way. It’s a great thing that God’s doing here.”
Countless lives have been impacted by these 20 years at Celebrate Recovery. It’s a community celebrating every kind of recovery in Jesus’ name. People encounter one another with great courage, brave authenticity, and faithful humility through resources, partnerships, classes, and fellowship. Let’s celebrate this milestone together!
