Judgement | Undivided | Drew Moore

When was the last time you felt united when you judged someone? Judgment is vital to evaluation culture and only leads to division and separation. Jesus' words in Matthew 7:1 are reason enough not to Judge as he lays out the golden rule: "Do not judge others, and you will not be judged". In the pursuit of unity, you can pursue wisdom, humble yourself, and do good to others to live a life of peace pointing towards Jesus! How will you take steps towards humanity and generosity to find peace?

KEY VERSES

  • Matthew 7:1 NLT - Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.

  • Matthew 7:2 NLT - For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

  • James 4:11-12 NLT - Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?

  • John 3:16-19 NLT - For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.

  • James 3:13 NLT - If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

  • James 3:17-18 NLT - But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

  • James 4:7-10 NLT - So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

  • Matthew 5:12 NLT - Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
