3 Reasons People Show Up Well
Have you ever left a conversation thinking wishing it went a different way? Nobody wants to walk away from an encounter, second-guessing how they showed up because how you show up impacts the people around you. More is possible than you ever imagined when you show up well with God and His Spirit!
How you show up is affected by why you show up and who you are when you show up. Here are three reasons why people of God believe that showing up well matters:
People are sent together to heal
People bring life - specifically, the life of Jesus
People love the people around them with intention and invitation
Matthew 28:18-20 says, "Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Why people of God show up well is because of who people of God are! Followers of Jesus can be known as:
Witnesses - showing up well to tell the story God is writing
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere." — Acts 1:8
Ambassadors - showing up well to be a placeholder for God's love
"So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” — 2 Corinthians 5:20
Temple Priests - showing up well so people of the world encounter God
"You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests." — 1 Peter 2:4-5
Gifted Stewards of Grace - showing up well ready to give
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." — 1 Peter 4:10
Things should not stay the same when people show up well because who you are as witnesses, ambassadors, temple priests, and gifted stewards of grace matters! The world is waiting, God is with you, so show up well and expect big things!
