Dorian's Story

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.  Romans 8:3-5

  1. As Doriann shared in her story, “with deep pain there is also deep love.” Whatever problem or trial we are facing, we can trust in this: We are dearly loved by God. This is the kind of love that carries us through deep loss, heartbreak, sickness, and more. And the good news is this: We don’t have to go through difficult times alone. God has promised to never leave us or forsake us.

  2. To practice gratitude today, let’s start small. Try saying two simple prayers of thanks.

    • God, thank you for loving me.

    • God, thank you for never leaving or forsaking me.

  3. Read Psalm 23. Make notes of the verses that encourage you. “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.” Vs. 4

  4. Ask God to show you who else can be encouraged by these verses and make a call, send a text, or better yet, have a face to face conversation with your friend.

  5. Then consider sharing your experience from watching Doriann’s story. Where did God show up? What did He show you?  Pass along this page to invite a friend into a deeper conversation.
