Uncommon Life | July 24, 2022 | Where to Give
When was the last time you looked at your monthly spending? That can be a pretty revealing way to see where you are pointing your life. Jesus said that where your treasure is, your heart is. The inverse is true, too! If you want your heart to move toward something, give part of your treasure toward that area. Imagine how many new doors and opportunities for sharing the gospel would open if each follower of Jesus placed their attention and trust toward him!

Luke 12:21 NLT- 21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

Matthew 6:19-21 NLT - 19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:31-33 NLT - 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Luke 12:33 NLT - 33 “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it.
HEARING WHAT GOD IS SAYING

- What can we as individuals or as a group do to help?

Discovering What God Is Saying
+ Read and Retell the Bible Story
- One person reads the story out loud to the group.
- Someone else in the group retells the story in their own words as they remember it, and others fill in what’s missing.

- Read the passage again (different version if possible)
- What does this passage say about God, Jesus, or His plan?
+ Read and Look Again
- Have 1-2 more people retell the story as if they were telling a neighbor outside their home.
- What does this passage say about people in general?

- How will you respond to/obey this passage in a tangible, perhaps even costly ways in the next 48-72 hours?
