Have you ever felt like you’re living on a cliffhanger, not sure what’s going to happen next? Mark 16:2-8 teaches that when Jesus died on the cross, the people around him felt like that, too. They didn’t know that Jesus had already gone ahead of them and that he had a plan: he rose from the grave! Jesus has gone ahead of you and made the way for your salvation. He will write one resurrection story after another in your life. Who in your life can you share your resurrection story with?

KEY VERSES

• Mark 16:2-8: 2 Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb. 3 On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” 4 But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. 5 When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, 6 but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. 7 Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.” 8 The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were too frightened

• John 14:27-28: 27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. 28 Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.

• One person reads the story out loud to the group.

• Have 1-2 more people retell the story as if they were telling a neighbor outside their home.
