Becoming A People Who | October 30, 2022 | Support

Imagine you were to write a book of who you're becoming, made up of the absolute most important learnings of your life and waypoints of achievement and loss. Somehow, you have become who you are today. And if you were to capture it in a book, whose names would go in the acknowledgments? In other words, who are the people without whom your book would not come to be? When you think about who you're becoming, you want to keep a list of those people, and who end up on the lists of others! All of this boils down to a simple idea - support. Become a people who offer and receive support by being present, practical, and prayerful.

KEY VERSES

• Romans 1:1-16 NLT -1 This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. 2 God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. 3 The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, 4 and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. I want to work among you and see spiritual fruit, just as I have seen among other Gentiles. 14 For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world, to the educated and uneducated alike. 15 So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News. 16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

• Romans 12:4-6 NLT -4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.

• Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT -23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
