3 Ways To Help You Start A Group
Zach moved to Las Vegas from Atlanta and knew he not only wanted, but needed to find his way into a life-giving community. In making space for people to connect meaningfully with God and with one another, Zach has found that sharing vulnerability and rallying around one another in tangible ways has been more than possible. For group members Eddie and Marie, they’ve found a true family. From all diverse backgrounds, the group has one thing in common: everyone is on a journey to discover more about what it means to live with and like Jesus. Here’s his story of making space for relationships to grow and thrive!
Looking to Zach’s example, here are 3 questions to explore that will help you start a group:
What are you passionate about? For Zach, he loved being outdoors, adventuring, and hiking! That’s how his idea to start a hiking group began. He wanted to find people who also loved the outdoors. Finding shared connections are a great way to meet new people and start friendships with similar interests!
What are you looking for? Having just moved to a new city, Zach wanted to explore his new home. What better way to do that than to rally others to explore with you? Before Zach, there was no hiking group. Instead of looking elsewhere, he started one! What is the good that you and the people around you have yet to experience?
What is God inviting you to explore? Zach simply wanted to “bring people together” to explore the city, to explore what a relationship with God is like, and to explore launching and leading a group where anyone is welcome! What is it that God is inviting you to explore with him?
While Zach was nervous to start a group in a new city, he was overwhelmed when over 20 people showed up and kept showing up. “Just bring whatever you have to God, and he’s going to use that, multiply it, and grow it.” Having close people in your life has become more important than ever. The best part is, you can start right where you are! Think of the people you come across in the places that you go and rally your people to build a great life together!
