Immanuel Lifestyle | Emotional Check- In

One aspect of building a joyful, "glad to be with you" type of relationship is being able to connect with one another on a heart level. Emotions are what make us human. When we practice vulnerability, honesty, and transparency in healthy ways and safe spaces, relationships deepen! The practice of checking in emotionally creates the opportunity to glimpse into each person's current reality without judgment, share each other's joys and sorrows, and extend care and compassion to those who are struggling.

When people are able to relate emotionally, it provides space for people to practice being fully-present with one another and to be glad to be together truly in all circumstances. The practice of normalizing, identifying, and talking about emotions is not only necessary but also a sign of maturity! In other words, it is a way people grow individually and together!

Whether you're doing an emotional check-in with your family around the table, with friends during a conversation, or with your team at work, offer 2 minutes to name 2 emotions and briefly share how each person is feeling and why. Are you feeling...

·         Sad, betrayed, disappointed, invisible, low energy?

·         Angry, mad, anxious, overwhelmed, confused, alone?

·         Happy, confident, peaceful, optimistic, hopeful?

You never know what kind of conversations will come out of creating invitational, helpful, and intentional space for one another.
