In every decision we face, we make a choice. We “vote” for one option or another. And as we are learning in this political season, every vote has consequences. We can spend all day debating what is best, but in the end, we must make a choice and take action. We vote for what we think is the best, the wisest thing to do. We want the best results for us and for the people we love. As we follow Jesus, we most want to vote for what HE says, because we know he has the best in mind for us and those around us.Jesus is always leading us to be people who know how to deal when things get tough. To be wise. To be people who don’t just talk, but people of ACTION. Who do things the right way with the right heart. A people of great vision. And of great power. The book of James helps us be such people. In a rapid-fire blend of the proverbs and Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount, we are directly (46 imperatives) called to live the kind of life we would to which we would gladly vote “yes.”Our lives, our loved-ones and our city will not be the same as we live into what Jesus says through his brother, James.
